Vidzeme Planning Region is actively working on a framework for monitoring and development on a territorial level, addressing Vidzeme's specific regional needs through its participation in the PoliRuralPlus project. This initiative builds upon the Open Call held in 2024, where innovative proposals were invited to enhance the region’s monitoring system. The winning proposal by InnoMatrix focuses on identifying the key components and requirements for an effective economic monitoring system. While the research does not involve building the system itself, it aims to define the foundation for governance transparency and active public engagement.
Phase One - Desk Research
During the first phase of the project, extensive desk research was conducted, examining Latvian and international practices in economic monitoring. This analysis made it possible to identify several potential solutions and define the key challenges that Vidzeme needs to address.
Next Steps - Stakeholder Interviews
The next stage involves engaging with municipalities, businesses, policymakers, and local communities through a series of interviews. These discussions are expected to provide critical insights into the region’s needs and conditions. The findings will guide recommendations for what the envisioned monitoring system should include and prioritize.
What is the aim of the research?
The project’s objective is not to build a technical solution but to comprehensively explore and document the needs, challenges, and best practices that should shape the system. Stakeholder engagement is seen as essential for providing a clear roadmap for an inclusive and effective economic monitoring system.
Looking Ahead
In the upcoming phases, the research will:
- Conduct interviews to gather diverse perspectives from stakeholders.
- Analyze the collected data and benchmark it against international best practices.
- Develop actionable recommendations for designing a monitoring system that meets Vidzeme’s unique needs.
With InnoMatrix contributing expertise and innovative approaches, this research will support the establishment of the groundwork for an effective economic monitoring framework that supports Vidzeme’s sustainable development. Updates on results and insights will be shared as the project progresses, inviting all interested parties to contribute to shaping the region’s future.
Stay tuned and be part of the journey!
