At our recent Open Day at the Technology Campus Freyung, we had the pleasure of presenting the PoliRuralPlus project to citizens from the region. The event welcomed everyone interested in discovering what happens behind the scenes of a rural research campus. Throughout the day, we engaged in lively conversations with members of the general public as well as regional politicians. Visitors of all ages, from curious children to interested adults, explored our work and enjoyed a diverse programme.
We also asked visitors about their perceptions of the campus, whether they were familiar with our activities, and what they imagined our daily work looks like. We learned that many people are aware that we exist, but often find it difficult to grasp what we actually do. Showing them our labs, offices, and the faces of people behind the work helped to create a better understanding and build stronger connections.
These are valuable insights for our Czech-Bavarian pilot project, as we try to enhance research and innovation in the rural peripheral region.
