The PoliRuralPlus Jackdaw Code Camp successfully took place from 16–18 June at NEUROPUBLIC’s headquarters in Piraeus, Greece, bringing together project partners, developers, researchers, and innovators for three days of intensive collaboration. The event welcomed both in-person and remote participants, creating a dynamic environment where technical expertise and rural innovation came together to accelerate the development of the PoliRuralPlus ecosystem.
The Code Camp focused on advancing the Jackdaw platform through a series of thematic and technical working sessions. Participants explored how generative AI can support rural development, designed new business and operational models, and developed intelligent agents capable of assisting with complex rural challenges. Teams also worked on enhancing the Jackdaw "Boxes & Arrows" builder, enabling users to create sophisticated long-running AI workflows tailored to real-world rural applications.
Several parallel technical sessions addressed key components of the PoliRuralPlus technology stack. Topics included building MCP tools within Raven, integrating raster datasets, operationalising Raven services, developing AI-powered chat agents for agricultural subsidies, improving natural language interaction with maps, strengthening retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) capabilities, and advancing structured content extraction and automated crawlers. Throughout the event, participants worked in dedicated teams, transforming ideas into practical solutions and prototypes.
The second day featured project presentations and knowledge exchange with several Cascade Funding and synergy projects, providing an opportunity to showcase progress, discuss interoperability, and identify future collaboration opportunities across the wider innovation ecosystem. The event concluded on the third day with team presentations, demonstrations of the developed solutions, and a joint evaluation of the most promising outcomes, highlighting the collaborative spirit that defines the PoliRuralPlus community.
Beyond the technical achievements, the Code Camp strengthened cooperation among consortium partners and reinforced the shared commitment to delivering innovative digital tools that support smarter, more resilient rural communities across Europe.
We would like to sincerely thank NEUROPUBLIC for hosting the event and extend our gratitude to everyone who participated, both on-site and online. Your expertise, enthusiasm, and valuable contributions made the Code Camp highly productive and inspiring.
