Local Voices Drive Circular Transformation in County Monaghan

Monaghan Integrated Development (MID) hosted the fourth PoliRuralPlus stakeholder meeting on 27 November 2025, bringing together local authorities, businesses, academics, and community groups to review the draft Regional Action Plan (RAP) for County Monaghan.

Participants discussed priority actions focused on circular economy development, renewable energy, and community engagement. Key proposals included creating a Regional Circular Economy Hub, developing waste-to-resource systems, and establishing a Community Energy Facilitation Hub to support the adoption of renewable technologies.

Stakeholders provided practical suggestions to strengthen the plan, such as improving public awareness of energy schemes, supporting SME-led circular initiatives, enhancing broadband connectivity, and expanding partnerships between academia and local government.

The revised Regional Action Plan, incorporating all feedback, will be presented to Monaghan County Council on 12 December 2025. The draft RAP is now available for public review, with comments welcomed at jantony@midl.ie
